I did my undergraduate at UC San Diego. I did my PhD work at UC Davis.Truthfully, I was too shy to be the class clown. I was only funny around my close friends. It took me a while to break out of my shell. I had a hard time with stage fright when I started.
I just saw your 1/25/14 show at the Atlas in DC but wasn't able to ask you this after the show (had to leave promptly afterwards). By chance did you do the voice in the Washington Post radio advertisement advertising their jobs section? (the one where the 'announcer' is talking about the Jobs section in the Post and says "here's one for a radio announcer" and then as he reads it he realizes that it's talking about him and goes on to show how they don't need another announcer via demonstrating his own 'range'? If not, you two could be voice doubles (it's a funny ad, so if you wrote it - kudos). I really enjoyed the show! Glad you career shifted - the world is a better place because of it. Becky Deku
Unfortunately that wasn't me. It sounds like a funny ad!
I can't tell anyone what's appropriate for their kids since that's a very personal decision. I can tell you I work clean but some of the bits are pretty cerebral and may be hard for a 12 year old to get.
I hope that helps!
REALLY looking forward to seeing you next Thursday at the Improv in San Jose.
While I was working at Apple (1990-1997), I was moonlighting on occasion as a standup comedian…local clubs, and one special Apple Communications Meeting where I stood in front of 5,000 Apple employees (live, plus more on satellite) and shared my thoughts and impressions (yes, I did impressions) of John Sculley (CEO) and Michael Spindler (President) as they stood backstage and "took it". It was GREAT fun!
I've stuck to the Engineering track (currently I'm Director of Quality Engineering for Akamai Technologies), but believe me…I understand and applaud your decision to re-orient your career vector!

Thanks Robert. I applaud you for surviving the Sculley years at Apple!
I'll be back in Philadelphia sometime next year. If you get on the email list I'll send you a heads up when I'm coming to town.
Is there a good venue in Ocean City?
I may be up in the Bay Area in February. I'll definitely be there in a couple weeks for a show at the San Jose Improv.
Yes, there's still some tickets available at the door. Should be a fun show!
I like Bend. I have family there but I'm not familiar with places to perform in the area. If you have any leads please let me know.
