The choice to go into comedy while working as a UC researcher -- an instant decision or a gradual realization over the years? if so, was there like a specific event that led to this commitment? Thanks

I started comedy after I had given up on academia. At that point I was developing a trading platform for Charles Schwab. I didn't like that much either. I knew I didn't want to be in academia and I also knew I didn't like working for a big company. I was frustrated. I tried comedy simply to spice things up. I didn't know when I showed up at an open mic for the first time that it would change the course of my life.
